Short Circuit Analysis

The NEC (National Electrical Code) requires that all electrical equipment be rated to withstand or interrupt the available fault current.

A short circuit analysis identifies the maximum available fault current at key locations within the electrical distribution system (main switchgear, MCC's, switchboards, panelboards,etc.).

This will help the customer identify equipment that is improperly rated to withstand a fault within the facility and take corrective action.

Using a specialized software, the model of the customer's electrical distribution system is created. Multiple scenarios are simulated to account for different sources of fault current contribution.

Site surveys may be required to gather additional equipment information necessary for a complete and accurate analysis.

A comprehensive report summarizing all calculated fault currents under worst case scenario will be generated and included in the final analysis.
